Smith-Schuster has had two solid outings this season and seems to have a good rapport with Mahomes. He showed some burst last week after getting 37 yards after the catch on a 16-yard reception. Smith-Schuster is the only Chiefs receiver who can justifiably be in any starting lineups and is a fine WR3.
Valdes-Scantling is getting plenty of reps but hasn’t been able to hook up with Mahomes for any explosive plays that he was known for with the Green Bay Packers. Mahomes missed a wide-open Valdes-Scantling early in the first quarter last week that would have gone for a long touchdown.
They will likely hit one eventually, but when that will happen is anyone’s guess. Valdes-Scantling is dealing with an abdomen injury and will probably be limited if he plays.
Hardman has been dealing with a heel injury that has slowed him down. He hasn’t caught more than three passes in a game this season and could be limited again this week. With injuries to Hardman and Valdes-Scantling, opportunities could arise for Justin Watson and rookie Skyy Moore, but there’s no track record to put them in any lineups.
