Since the preparation for Super Bowl LVII began, rumors have been swirling about Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid potentially retiring after the big game.

The 64-year-old has been a head coach in the NFL for the last 24 years. From time to time in Kansas City, we’ve been reminded that retirement is a possibility for the head coach, but it’s never been much of a reality. A new report suggests that it could be weighing on his mind.

FOX Sports reporter Jay Glazer delivered a report on the topic.

“I did ask Andy,” Glazer began. “If you win this game, will this be the final time we see you coach? It wasn’t a no, but he said, ‘Look, I’m not getting any younger. I still have a young quarterback. I have a decision I have to make after this game.”

Glazer also did an interview with Chiefs CEO and Chairman Clark Hunt during Super Bowl LVII opening night. Here is what Hunt had to say about the potential retirement of Coach Reid:

“I think Andy is having too much fun coaching the Chiefs right now, right? With a quarterback like Patrick Mahomes, there is no better time to be a head coach in the NFL. So, I think he’s really enjoying what he’s doing. Certainly, we hope he’ll stay with us a number of years and win a bunch of Super Bowls.”

So long as Patrick Mahomes is the quarterback and he’s still got love for the game, it’s hard to envision a scenario where Reid walks away from it all. That said, it at least seems to be something on Big Red’s mind before Super Bowl LVII kicks off.
