Return of EA Sports NCAA Football facing lawsuit over NIL

If you are an NFL fan and a college football fan, you can’t wait for the return of EA Sports College Football. But it sounds like we all might be waiting a little longer. According to Front Office Sports, there is a snag over NILs for some of the players.

According to the report, the Brandr Group, a group that represents 54 Division I football programs is suing EA Sports for lowballing the players from those schools for their NILs as they would use their names and likenesses in the game.

In the suit, The Brandr Group claims EA was working with them about the licensing but then went another direction and contracted with a different firm, OneTeam Partners and attempted to go around Brandr and force the student-athletes to either violate their contract with The Brandr Group or risk not being in the game.

EA has not produced a college football game since 2013. The new version is scheduled to be released in 2024.
