One of the big awards at the end of every NFL season is Comeback Player of the Year, won most recently by Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith.
It is given to a player who has bounced back from some adversity, which is often injury.
BetMGM Sportsbook has futures odds for who might win the award and one Arizona Cardinals player is listed — tight end Zach Ertz.
Ertz is a long shot.
In fact, few players have longer odds than his +10000 (bet $100 to win $10,000).
Ertz is coming off a torn ACL. He should be an important part of the Cardinals’ offense in 2023 but isn’t viewed as someone who will have a big enough season to earn the award.
At +10000 odds, he has 0.99% implied odds of winning. He shares the longest odds available with Joey Bosa, Zach Wilson, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Elijah Mitchell, Darnell Mooney, Mecole Hardman, T.J. Watt, Javonte Wiliams, Allen Robinson, Hunter Renfrow and Ronnie Stanley.
The favorite to win it is Buffalo’s Damar Hamlin with -300 odds.
Who has longer odds?
Arizona’s Kyler Murray is one (+12500).
So do Darren Waller (+12500), Jerry Jeudy (+15000), Cam Akers (+25000), Elijah Moore (+25000), Courtland Sutton (+15000), Carson Wentz (+20000) and J.K. Dobbins (+15000).
